[ARCHIVED] Volunteer Opportunities: Pro and Con Committees for Emergency Communications Tax Proposition

announcement for volunteers

Volunteer to serve on a Pro or Con committee for a proposition concerning Local Emergency Communications Systems and Facilities Sales Use Tax.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners is seeking volunteers to serve on Pro and Con committees for a proposition concerning Local Emergency Communications Systems and Facilities Sales and Use Tax.

On September 30, 2025, the Board passed a resolution authorizing the submission of a proposition to voters for a 1/10th of 1% increase to the sales and use tax. This proposed increase would provide ongoing funding for the costs associated with the financing, design, acquisition, construction, equipping, operating, maintaining, remodeling, repairing, reequipping, and improvement of regional emergency communications systems and facilities.

The Douglas County Commissioners have the responsibility of appointing members to two committees: one to write a statement in favor “yes” (Pro) and one to write a statement against “no” (Con) the proposition.

  • Each committee may have up to three members.
  • Members must reside within Douglas County.

If you are interested in serving on either the Pro or Con committee, please submit your application by Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.

Your application should include:

  • Your name, address, email, and phone number
  • A brief statement explaining why you would like to serve on one of the committees

Please email your information to:
