On 03/24/25 at approximately 2:42 PM, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a disturbance on Orondo Spur Road in Orondo, WA. It was reported that a man, later identified as 39-year-old James Scott Martin, an Orondo resident, was armed and threatening people and had assaulted neighbors with a taser-like flashlight.

After several unsuccessful attempts to get the suspect to surrender, deputies and Chelan County Behavioral Health Unit members requested assistance from the East Cascade SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams. Upon SWAT arrival, traffic was rerouted to avoid placing the public in danger.

At approximately 5:46 PM the suspect was arrested and taken into custody.  Mr. Martin was transported and booked into Chelan County Regional Jail for Assault in the 2nd degree.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank East Cascade SWAT, Washington State Patrol, Washington State Department of Transportation, Chelan County Behavioral Health Unit, Rivercom, and Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife for their assistance.
