Douglas County, led by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, is updating its Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) this spring and summer to better protect residents, infrastructure, and the local economy from natural disasters such as wildfire, drought, flooding, and severe weather.

The HMP serves as the community’s roadmap for reducing long-term disaster risks and helps ensure continued eligibility for FEMA mitigation grants that fund protective projects.

Community input is an important part of the update process. County representatives will visit communities this spring to gather feedback on local hazards and potential solutions.
