Planning Commission

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 10 am, the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners will hear a presentation from staff on the findings of the Land Capacity Analysis (LCA). The LCA is a part of the Comprehensive Plan Periodic Update process. Per RCW 36.70A.130, all counties, cities, and towns are required to complete a land capacity analysis that demonstrates sufficient land for development or redevelopment to meet their adopted growth allocation targets.

The Douglas County Planning Commission has expressed interest in learning about the findings of the Land Capacity Analysis and as such, will attend the January 21 Board of County Commissioners meeting to hear the presentation.

As such, it is noticed and hereby posted on the County’s Website informing the public there may be a potential for a quorum of the Planning Commission in attendance as well. For details on LCA, please contact Swati Rastogi at 509-884-7173.

Overview

The Douglas County Planning Commission is a seven-member body appointed by the Board of Commissioners to assist the Land Services Division in preparing recommendations on planning matters and development regulations. The Planning Commission serves as a place for public input into the comprehensive planning process in Douglas County so that citizens can help determine the most prudent course of action to take to promote the well-being of the County and our environment for the citizens of the generations yet born.

The Planning Commission members are volunteers who are appointed by the Board of Commissioners, two from each commissioner district and one at-large position. Member terms are four years in length.
